|comment||Skewered and stretched prawns are grilled in the shell in the oven. They are then seasoned with dashi stock, soy sauce and mirin. Prawns are used as a New Year's decoration and an ingredient of osechi New Year's dishes as a symbol of long life because their long whiskers and bent back are reminiscent of an old man.|

|Kuruma prawns (60 g per prawn)||8|
|(A) Dashi stock||2 tbsp|
|(A) Soy sauce||2 tbsp|
|(A) Mirin||2 and 1/2 tbsp|
Mix the (A) ingredients. Devein the kuruma prawns and thread them onto skewers stretched to their full length.
Arrange the skewered kuruma prawns on a baking sheet lined with oven paper. Bake them in a pre-heated oven at 250oC for about 10 minutes. Pour the (A) mixture over the prawns while they are still hot. Cool and then remove from the skewers and serve on a dish. This dish is great for parties and as a New Year's dish.
